Season Restaurant situated on Noosa’s iconic Hasting Street offers striking views over Laguna Bay, and a menu to match.
I recently had the good fortune of enjoying their warm hospitality and great food at a Catalina Sounds wine lunch.
The young wine maker Peter Jackson gave an interesting account of his rise to fame, from a law-school dropout to graduating from the acclaimed Roseworthy College in South Australia.
Canapés of smoked ocean trout with salmon pearls and crème fraiche were a perfect match for the minerally yet fruit driven Pinot Gris.
We then sat down to an entree of grilled prawns in a light coconut curry, which made a surprisingly warm yet light match to the Catalina Sounds Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc.
The standout was the main course, a gorgeous grilled loin of venison served with a vanilla and blueberry jus.
This was matched with a perfectly balanced Pinot Noir with notes of cherry, blackcurrant and flint.
To finish we enjoyed Pyengana cloth bound cheddar partnered with a botrytis Riesling, heady and sweet.
The meal was made complete by a refreshing Gunpowder Green tea from a local company, the Tewantin Tea Merchant.
Season Restaurant and Catalina Sounds hosted a fabulous lunch complementing the great wine and beautiful location.
It is the perfect place to enjoy a lazy lunch over-looking beautiful Laguna Bay this festive season.
