The wonderful world of Busby Marou

This album will grab your heart from the first track, and you will not be letting go in a hurry.
As the first signing to indie label Footstomp Records (Warner Music Australia), Busby Marou are two local boys from Rockhampton made good.
The duo, made up of Thomas Busby and Jeremy Marou, won an Indigenous Deadly Award for “Most Promising New Talent in Music” and a Q Song award for Paint My Cup before taking over the national music airwaves last year.
Their big break came after recording a cover of the Crowded House classic Better Be Home Soon, which featured on the Finn Brothers Tribute Album and went gold within a month of release.
Their self-titled debut album, released on June 24, 2011, has been described as folk-inspired, indie, blues and roots but its Queensland Sunday session music at its best— laid back and friendly with sweet guitar riffs and harmonious, poignant lyrics.
The first single release, Biding My Time, is an emotive track which shows off the pair’s Torres Strait and Murray Island influences.
This album is raw enough to hear the duo’s fingers sliding across guitar necks but rather than distracting, it feels like they are right there in the room, intimately sharing their own special kind of music.
Busby Marou are currently on their “Underlying Message” tour around the continent, stopping into the major cities as well as acknowledging their small town origins by visiting regional centres.
Those two lucky boys from Busby Marou will also be supporting Dolly Parton at her Hope Estate Winery shows, November 19 to 20, 2011.
With all that going on, we can only hope they are taking some time out to weave some more of their music magic and fingers crossed there will be another album offering on the way soon.
