Talented performer Temeika-Jo Williams is back on the Sunshine Coast to share her gift and knowledge with aspiring performers.

Having spent the past year studying at the National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA) in the Singer, Dancer and Actor course, 19-year-old Ms Williams returned to her home town to encourage other performers and help them live their dreams.

Although the move from a small coastal town to Sydney was not easy, Ms Williams said that it was the best experience of her life.

She said that she has now accumulated knowledge to contribute toward her with her career aspirations and to share with others.

“My year at NIDA was probably the hardest year I’ve had in my life,” Ms Williams said.

“The demands of the course were unbelievable, but so addictive and enjoyable at the same time.

“I have come out of it with plenty of knowledge under my belt to take into the industry or even into my classes.”

Ms Williams has returned to the Sunshine Coast Academy of Dance Arts (SCADA) where she graduated in 2006, teaching jazz and music theatre to current students and using the skills she acquired from SCADA and NIDA.

Ms Williams also wishes to travel and perform worldwide with musical theatre and stage productions.

“I am a highly ambitious person, I have so many dreams and desires,” Ms Williams said.

“Ultimately my dream is to be living in New York or Los Angeles by 2012, and performing in musicals in America where the music theatre scene is...appreciated and huge.

“I am completely in my element when I am on stage.”

Having the chance to teach what she loves to hopeful students has given Ms Williams an appreciation of choreographing and the endless opportunities it holds.

“I have become so passionate about choreographing, so teaching is a side option,” Ms Williams said.

Ms Williams attended Sunshine Coast Christian College before leaving in grade 11 to follow her dream and study at SCADA.

Located at Nambour, SCADA is the only full-time nationally and internationally recognised performing arts academy on the Sunshine Coast, offering a two year diploma and a two year part time certificate course in performing arts.

With Ms Williams’ talent, determination and experience, there is no doubt that the Sunshine Coast performer may be gracing the stages of Broadway in the future.
