To have access to edgy and unique fashion you don’t have to live the city or major metropolitan areas to gain inspiration from fashion elite.
The Sunshine Coast proved this point on 23 October 2008 with the launch of the Sunshine Coast Fashion Festival which showcased local up-coming designers to fashion followers and media personnel.
Beginning at sunset the luxury lagoon pool at the iconic SurfAir Resort was transformed into a fashion Mecca complete with a stunning light display. The outdoor affair in which guests were seated around the pool with the absence of a ‘traditional runway’ proved that this was no ordinary event and one that would excite and thrill attendees.
The two-hour show showcased celeb favourite and international brand Ed Hardy as well as local designers including Style Workroom, Boomshankar, Hive swimwear and jewellery label Urge the Boys amongst others. The festival oozed professionalism and class by everyone that was involved including the designers, staff and models who managed to stay afoot in sky high heels.
A pleasant spring night was marred by a cool change that swept over the guests however this did not hinder the events success in the slightest. Every aspect of the event complemented each other with the local designs shown reflecting high fashion potential with individuality.
