Turned into the Sunshine Coast’s fashion catwalk for the afternoon, Zinc Bar & Restaurant played host to several fashion shows on Sunday, October 8.
Winter was definitely kissed goodbye with the welcomed summer collections on show at Zinc, which provided a glimpse into what girls and guys can look forward to wearing this season.
It’s time to farewell our favourite jeans and boots and replace them with 1970s style summer dresses. It’s out with the black and in with the pastels and the refreshing colours that summer has to offer.
Presented beside Mooloolaba’s golden beaches, the scene inside was set for a hot afternoon of fashion.
The spring weather outside proved for warm weather inside as the fashion hit the catwalk.
Several designers showed their new collections to a capacity crowd, with many people forced to watch from outside the bar.
Haughty Belle showed an interesting mix of underwear, casual wear and after five wear in its summer 2006 line.
Oriental ornaments themed the two designers’ latest show. Models’ legs were adorned with butterflies on string. The Japanese inspired, lace umbrellas finished off the designs and suited the new range of underpants.
The trend was definitely a mix of what was seen at the spring/summer 2006 collections during Melbourne Fashion Week.
Stripes, frills, cute summer dresses and one piece suits were the flavour of the season for Haughty Belle.
The shoes represented what’s in style at the moment and were a mix of wedge and stack heels in black and white.
The new addition to the line was a sure favourite with the crowd. The newly introduced knickerbockers’ style underpants and shorts proved to be something different then what’s currently on the market.
The frills and girlie prints and their great cut will make this new, cheeky Haughty Belle line a must-have for girls on the coast.
The frilled shorts, one pieces and summer dresses were the collection’s stand-outs.
Haughty Belle had a new take on the little black dress (LBD). A one-piece short suit instead with satin ribbon detail was perfect for the local weather and night life.
It was refreshing to see the label take its own direction and stray from the nautical theme, which seems to have captured most designers and chain stores.
Haughty Belle brought different colours to the summer look, offering an alternative to the predictable blue, red and white summer theme.
The favourite dress of the crowd was the pale yellow polka-dot dress with old-style buttons and pockets. The polka-dot dress was reminiscent of the 1970s.
The cuts were feminine, especially on the white satin dress. And short, shorts are back with frills for a girlie look
Gone are the hippie frills and long skirts of last summer. Hail shorter dresses, feminine prints, wedge heels and cuts to show off our fabulous shapes. It looks like the range will take us through summer with fabulous, cute prints and feminine designs.
Now all that is left to do is enjoy the great Sunshine Coast weather in these charming, new looks for summer.
