Rain no dampener for Ripe fans

Some of the music industry’s most talented acts exceeded all expectations at Noosa’s Ripe music festival last Saturday.

Torrential rain the night before ensured it was a muddy event, but that certainly did not deter festival goers.

Patrons disregarded the state of their shoes and braved the sinking mud to get a front row view of some of the best live acts Australia has to offer.

And bands such as Washington, Cassette Kids, You Am I, Operator Please, British India, Grinspoon, Birds of Tokyo and Cat Empire made it worthwhile, wowing crowds with their amazing live sets.

Standout acts included Australian band British India, who got people jumping with their combination songs from their new album Avalanche as well as older tracks.

Their cover of Nirvana’s Lithium sent the crowd over the edge, and resulted in a deafening cheer from the audience.

Birds of Tokyo were also a highlight on the main stage, with front man Ian Kenny’s stellar vocals transfixing the audience for the entire 40 minutes and leaving them wanting so much more.

The amazing level of performance from all the acts made the crowd forget how ruined their shoes were, until the way home at any rate.
