Noosa Ripe festival does not disappoint

Not even the six-inch-deep mud or freezing cold could keep music revellers away from the 2010 Noosa Ripe Festival.

Patrons came in bus loads, eagerly awaiting a day of music.

Headlining the event was Australian rockband Grinspoon, and the electric tunes of the Cat Empire.

While Grinspoon rocked out on the main stage to thousands of diehard fans, the Cat Empire’s set seemed to lack the same energy, and after only a couple of songs I was ready to leave.

Other highlights of the day were Melbourne band British India, who played to an ecstatic crowd keen for more.

Birds of Tokyo proved to be another highlight of the day, with their song Silhouettic really getting the crowd going.

Perhaps the greatest discovery of the day was a Sunshine Coast musician by the name of Drew Wilson, whose folk-like tunes had many an indy fan gasping.

Although relatively unheard of, big things can be expected.

Overall, the day improved considerably from last year, with wait times for toilets, food and drinks considerably diminished.

Despite the freezing cold and mud, it made for one fantastic day.
