DJ JoJo will be once again hitting the decks at the Rolling Rock on Saturday nights to get the beat flowing.
DJ JoJo, aka Joe Borger, said that if it wasn’t for his flatmates DJ’s Baby Gee and Habebe he would never have become a DJ himself.
“Baby Gee showed me the ropes and got me into it,” Joe said.
“I’m hoping to start producing my own music and travel. See the world, see Australia," Joe said.
Joe described his DJ style as House and Electro. He said that when he plays at Brisbane’s popular Monastery club with Baby Gee he can play music that is a bit more ‘underground’ than the type he plays for his Sunshine Coast audience.
“In Brisbane I can play stuff that is a bit deeper and a bit darker,” he said.
“At the end of the night I play the more underground stuff. The crowd is pretty responsive to (it),” he said.
Joe said he loved being a DJ because of the atmosphere in the nightclubs.
“The clubbing environment and having people enjoy what you’re doing is a major influence. I just like to be the centre of attention,” he said.
He said he loved to DJ at the Sunshine Coast, especially Noosa, because of the ambience of the area.
“I love Noosa. Just because of the laid back atmosphere and because it’s a holiday destination everyone’s there to have a good time.”
“Everyone’s happy, which makes me happy,” he said, adding that the beach at Noosa was also a big attraction for him.
Working as an engineer for the telecommunications company TSA throughout the week, Joe said he doesn’t have much time for anything else.
“I don’t really have much spare time...I usually play XBox or go out drinking and partying,” he said.
Joe played to a sold-out show at the Malibu Sunset Sessions at Quad Park in Kawana recently. He is also a resident DJ at Monastery - one of Brisbane’s biggest nightclubs.
He can be found at the Rolling Rock every Saturday night, just follow the beat to the dance floor.
