Dragon Ball Z: Ultimate Tenkaichi is the latest video game in the Budokai Tenkaichi/Raging Blast series, and was released in late October, 2011.

It is unfortunate to say that most Dragon Ball Z video game fans will be slightly disappointed by this latest attempt to keep the franchise alive.

The problem is that its predecessors, Raging Blast 1 and 2, were considered to be near perfect by gamers.

The game play from Raging Blast was autonomous, the fight sequences were fluid and the ability to destroy buildings and surroundings were a popular feature.

Ultimate Tenkaichi contains fight scenes that are constantly interrupted by cut-away scenes, and the fluid movements are nothing more than repetitive.

To the games’ credit, there are areas where the game succeeds.

The Dragon Ball Z story line is accurate and the graphics are manga-based, which relates it more to the TV show rather than attempting to give it a real-life feel.

Players are also offered an area where they can create their own character, complete with customizable costumes and fighting abilities.

Despite all of this, the game generally fails to improve the franchise’s gaming chronology.

Those who play it will quickly lose their initial excitement of a new Dragon Ball Z game, and the disk’s case will most likely begin to collect dust after players finish the first level.
