Another disappointing season for Wests Tigers

The 2008 NRL season was again another disappointment for Wests Tigers players, staff and supporters.
It was a case of deja-vu for the Wests Tigers who just like previous years fell just short of the top eight.
Since 2005, when the Wests Tigers produced a fairytale season to become premiers, they have failed to make the top eight despite big expectations.
In 2008 the Wests Tigers again gave themselves a great chance of making the top eight only to lose three out of their last four games with their only win in the last round when their season was over.
They proved once again they could score tries entertaining fans every week but their defence was awful at times and in the end was their downfall.
Their longest winning streak was just two games, in what is regarded as one of the toughest competitions in the world was not good enough.
Losing key players like Benji Marshall, Robbie Farah and Brett Hodgson at crucial parts of the year didn’t help their cause but as a team were expected to make the top eight anyway.
As in previous years, 2009 looks promising with the signing of Great Britain international and former Leeds Rhinos forward Gareth Ellis to add some size to a small forward pack.
