Atonement

Based on the novel by Ian McEwan, Atonement is an adaptation of the classic love story set during World War II.

Keira Knightly and James McAvoy star as lovers torn apart by misconception lies and jealousy. The film was nominated in fourteen categories in the British Academy Film Awards (BAFTA) and won best picture.

The film takes the viewer on a journey of the two lovers who are reunited after being torn apart for three years, then separated once again by the War. The film follows their parallel lives, merely living for the hope of being reunited with one another, once again.

Personally,  I found the film to be unsatisfying. It is, however and interesting and unique adaption that will leave viewers reaching for the book.
