Latest CD is the Best Damn Thing

Avril Lavigne’s previous albums have been a mix of angry lyrics with somewhat dark and melancholy music. Her latest album, The Best Damn Thing, is something of a departure from her traditional sound.

The second single, Girlfriend, is a perfect example. With an upbeat tune and lyrics you can really sing to, Avril has created an incredibly catchy song which stays true to her “tough girl” image.

The rest of the album is much the same. Avril has strayed from her previous (sometimes depressing) music to create songs that are not only memorable but also empowering for her impressionable female fans. The slower songs on the album also have a different feel to Avril’s earlier work, with more emotional and uplifting lyrics.

Some of her best songs include “Girlfriend”, “Runaway”, “The Best Damn Thing” and the first single of the album, “Keep Holding On”.

The album is testament to the recent changes in Avril’s life, one of which was her marriage to Sum 41’s Deryck Whibley (who coincidentally helped her write and produce the album). The Best Damn Thing is perfect for anyone who loves to sing and dance to their music and just wants an album for easy listening.
