Power of pink

Shaun Rossington is surrounded by pink. His kitchen walls are pink, his bedspread is pink; even the salt and pepper shakers next to the pink breadbasket are pink!
Before you start thinking Shaun has an unusual obsession with a colour normally only adored by little girls, there is an explanation for Shaun’s pink world.
He is married to Donna Jankiwskyj, a woman who never outgrew her childhood love of all things pink. But rather than allow Donna’s pink passion to remain something only their houseguests could admire, Shaun encouraged her to turn her passion into an exciting business venture.
“Shaun realised I would never outgrow my obsession, so he suggested I do something about it,” Donna said.
Holding a Bachelor of Business from the University of the Sunshine Coast, Donna began turning her dream of opening a shop of predominantly pink products into a reality. After months o
f hard work, Think Pinq, a unique gift and homewares boutique in the heart of Mooloolaba opened it doors.
“I wanted to cater to people who like pink, but also include other products with complimentary colours,” Donna said.
Speaking with Donna, you quickly realise how her bubbly personality is a direct reflection of her favourite colour. She is vivid, vibrant and incredibly passionate about following her dreams. She is also a very enterprising young woman determined to achieve success in the business world.
This determination is evident when Donna described how she gathered information about an industry she previously knew very little about.
“I went around to other shops asking for information, some were very receptive others, understandably were not.
“Then I simply went around our house and looked at who made my pink products. I then called them directly and asked ‘how do I go about it’,” she said.
She found suppliers were initially reluctant to commit, which created problems in trying to obtain stock, but Donna persisted and soon had enough suppliers on board to open Think Pinq.
Donna said the response from Coast locals has been fantastic, which has made all the hard work worthwhile.
Donna stocks only Australian products and is a strong supporter of locally produced artwork and stationery.
Her beauty ranges from Urban Rituelle will have you smelling delicious, while Robert Gordon’s collection of high tea accessories will make you feel like a queen.
And your favourite pooch will not be left in the doghouse either, for Donna is the exclusive retailer of Dogue doggie products.
Think Pinq is an eclectic mix of Donna’s love for all things pink, and a definite reflection of her bubbly personality. But she said she owes it all to her loving and supportive husband.
“If it wasn’t for Shaun, Think Pinq would not be a reality,” she said.
